The following is a explination of how the system will save the data created by the map editor. For the time being, all data is saved in a .map file in the \multiplayer\maps directory. All data is to be saved in the order listed.

Header Data
- Map Name
- Author's Name
- Map Description
- Data Version (for backwords compatibility; in this case "v1.0")
- Map Width (in tiles)
- Map Height (in tiles)
Team Data
For each team:
- Victory Condition
Faction Data
For each faction:
- Faction Name
- Faction Description
- Team the Faction is On
- Faction "Emotion"
Terrain Data
- The Terrain for Every Map Tile
- Terrain Name Over-Ride for Every Tile
Characters and Units
- Location of Generic Units
- Faction Control Flag for Units
- Unit Name Override for Units (added 9/16/06)
- Flag for Important Units
- AI Strategy for Every Unit
